Question Putting Media on AppleTV with Syncing???

hello, i'm new here.
i'm looking for a way to put my music and video files on the apple tv without syncing it to my laptop. i thought apple would of had a 'manage files yourself' option like with an iPod but unfortunately there isn't. the only reason i bought the 160Gb version of ATV so i could put all my music on it instead of a external hard.
can someone help me?

Well, just as with an iPod you do have the option to not have the device sync automatically with iTunes but rather for you to do that manually...

That's not right...! You just disable automatic syncing and do manual syncing instead -- that's all...! As I said, just as you would do with any iPod...

Did you even browse through your options...?! It's not like it's all hidden or so...!?

In the settings you just uncheck the sync and drag the stuff over manually...

Default say what??

ok i've gone thru my menus on the ATV and there is no manual sync.
where is it supposed to be?
when i turn sync off under 'source-sync'
all i can do is stream from library's. then when i do i can only see the ATV in itunes device list when i connect to my library.
where is this hidden option?
My Apple TV is Version 1.1 stock standard using my wireless network.

Not on your ATV but in the iTunes application...!

Not on your ATV but in the iTunes application...! And it is not hidden...! When you open iTunes you see a list of connected devices (iPod, AppleTV etc.) in the left pane...click on your ATV and you will see all the options in the main window...! It shows you how much space you have left and all that...and in the upper part there are tabs for movies, music and all such...

Choose one of the tabs and you will see a checkbox for syncing options for that kind of media -- either change the options or just uncheck it and you can manually copy stuff to your ATV now...! Just by dragging and dropping...
