Does AppleTV save playback position back to iTunes?

This is a really simple question, but I couldn't find it in FAQs or on Apple's website...

Does the Apple TV communicate playback positions with iTunes? For example, if I start watching on iTunes, then stop and go to watch on an Apple TV, will the movie or TV show pick up where I left off?

If I then stop and go back to the computer again, will iTunes be updated with the Apple TV playback position?

Oof - I called Apple and they didn't have a clue either. This would be a deal breaker for me. I wouldn't want to spend time trying to seek to the middle of a movie with the push-button remote.

Good news! The answer in the Apple forums is that yes: the AppleTV syncs exactly as an iPod would.
