The latest version of itunes has all kinds of hints about a video rental service. Apple has been very quiet about the Apple TV lately. I think a major announcement will be made soon from Apple about video downloads.
I think they will: -Lower the price of the Apple TV, or upgrade the currently priced units with more storage. -Add in the ability to purchase items from the itunes store right from the ATV interface, no computer required (only at first to 'activate' your atv.) -Announce a video rental service where it is on demand and you can only watch the video within a certain amount of time.. Would have to be significantly cheaper than the 9.99 current charged for movies that you can keep. Anyone else care to speculate? My dream service is something similar to Netflix... $15-$25 a month to be able to watch newly released movies. Does Apple have the bandwidth to handle this? |
