Default Blu-Ray or not to Blu-Ray

So I have seemed to mastered ripping DVDs to play on my Apple TV. But the next stage is Blu-Ray. To all those who know, here is my question. Do you think it is worth spending the money to purchase a Blu-Ray player for my pc and the add on to Any-DVD to start ripping Blu-Ray in terms of quality vs. standard DVD? With actual Bit rates and resolution considered.
Josh.

I think I hear my question flopping on the deck like a dyeing fish. I'll state it this way: Has anyone ripped a Blu-Ray movie to Apple TV? Was the quality better than a normal DVD?

Yes and Yes.

I've converted a few Blu-Ray movies to HD H.264 that play great on my ATV.
I used to download 'ah-em' Lost TV episodes in MKV format (1280x720) and then convert them to playback on the ATV.

It's far superior than DVD, as long as the source is good to start with.
