Default STREAMING Wazzup?

Hi People!

I just got my Apple TV, (yay!) I have a dual 2Ghz PowerMac Dualie that I use strictly to stream my itunes library to my Apple TV via twisted pair CAT 5e. I know, I'm dedicated... I want to see all my converted DVD's Library on my Apple TV and it "just" won't show up! scooza... dammit!

These movies are all MP4 h.264 encoded strictly for Apple TV and they work fine on the mac, but it doesn't seem to get to my Apple TV. I've selected streaming in the settings, gone back to the mac and enetered the 5 didgit number and stuff... nada! nuttin! Where exactly are my movies supposed to show up on Apple TV? I've checked all around, the playlists folder, within iTunes music, at the root of Apple TV -- I don't see it. Like I said, I have lots... In the terabytes of movies that I convert on a daily basis, and keep adding to the library. I've created folders and added playlist within the folders. I don't sync because the 40 GB measly HD is a joke, streaming's the only way for this "movie-madness" haven.

So folks, point me in the right direction please, please, plaease -- I'm begging you, literally on my knees! ;o)

Thanks, desperate dude, er... NYDUDE

Use MPEG Streamclip to open one of the H264 files, then "save as" an MP4 with another name. Drop that file into iTunes. Go back to your AppleTV. Select the AppleTV as the source, then select your iTunes Library as the source (to refresh). See if the file shows up. (Note that "save as" is not "export".)

Alternatively, use MPEG Streamclip to open one of the H264 files, set a 20 second clip using the in/out commands, and "save as" to another name. Post the file where I can download it and check it out.

Another alternative: Same as above but use the "Export as mp4" command with that short clip. Drop that into iTunes. Repeat the "refresh" stuff and see if it appears.

PM me if you want to send me a short clip I can examine. I have found a few podcasts that will sync but will not show up for streaming. What are you using to rip the DVDs to H264?

you need to change sources to your itunes library in the sources menu. Once it connects to your library, it will show the library name at the top of the main screen instead of the AppleTV symbol. You should then be able to select Movies and browse all of the movies in your library on the AppleTV.
